Our program takes us on the road again, with a choice of repertoire for reflection and inspiration, inevitably influenced by the impact of COVID but also by how we make music together. Our songs carry a message of hope: at times quiet and peaceful, at other times spirited and joyful. Feel the peace of Whitacre’s Sing Gently, Stroope’s In Paradisum and Ames’ In Remembrance and be uplifted by Narverud’s Alleluia, Arnesen’s Flight Song and Gjeilo’s Northern Lights, among many other moving works.

There is indeed light in the distance and, although our path has recently been challenging, it has also been gratifying and ultimately inspiring, as the road rises over obstacles and points us forward.

January 2022 Update:

Dear Amabilis Alumni, Friends and Supporters:

When September 2021 rolled around, Amabilis choristers were inexpressibly happy to finally resume modified rehearsals. We could make music together again!

This season, during Ramona’s absence, we are fortunate to be able to sing under the direction of Carrie Taylor as our Interim Artistic Director. Carrie has worked with Amabilis in the past, and we appreciate and benefit from her vast experience as a music educator and choral conductor.

We carefully planned a safe return to singing. As our choir is large, we initially met with half the group each week, progressing gradually to full-length, full-choir rehearsals by early November. Due to this measured start, we slated our first performance for January 2022, planning to share music and reflections on our lives as choristers during recent challenging times. Yet here we are again with a rising wave of COVID that has made it inadvisable to gather at this time.

But rainbows follow the rain, and we have all learned to be flexible. We now invite you to put our upcoming May 28, 2022 concert on your calendars. We are excited about the new repertoire we will be able to perform for our listeners!

Amabilis wishes you and your families a safe and Happy New Year.
