Carrie studied music at the University of Mary in Bismark, North Dakota and at the University of Victoria in Victoria, BC, obtaining her Bachelor of Music and Professional Teaching Certificate. She has also studied at the Banff School of the Fine Arts.
Carrie has been teaching in the public school system for 37 years, where she enjoys teaching both band and choir. Carrie coordinates the B.C. Provincial Honour Choir, is the educational consultant for Chor Leoni and she directs the Burnaby chapter of MYVoice (a program to teach young men how to sing, sponsored by Chor Leoni). She also co-directs Vivo children’s choir and helps Phoenix Chamber Choir with their children’s program, called Hatchlings.
Many years ago Carrie was a member of the Amabilis Choir. She and Amabilis have had the good fortune to work together in the four different seasons when she served as director, including the fall of 2024. This wonderful community choir has a special place in her heart.
