Man Li
Man Li is a choral conductor and composer born and raised in Hong Kong. He holds a Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the University of British Columbia and a Bachelor of Arts in Music from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, specializing in composition and majoring in voice.
Man’s extensive choral experience includes serving as president of the Chung Chi Choir, music director of the Hong Kong vocal ensemble Cantus12, conductor of Aqua Voice, KMYLS Junior Choir, ELCHK Yuen Long Lutheran Secondary School’s Show Choir, and assistant conductor of the Yuen Long Children’s Choir Concert Choir. During his graduate studies at UBC, he directed the UBC Treble Choir Oriana and UBC Chamber Choir.
He has been selected as a conducting fellow for the Choral Conducting Symposium at the University of Toronto (2023), the Vancouver Chamber Choir’s Conductor’s Symposium (2024), and the Cascade Conducting Choral Masterclass (2024). He is a recipient of the EnChor Choral Conducting Graduate Scholarship and the Cascade Choral Conducting Masterclass Scholarship.
As a composer, Man specializes in choral works in the tonal language of Cantonese, with performances of his works in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Malaysia. He has also presented as a virtual presenter at the Canadian choral conference PODIUM on how to approach Cantonese choral music.
